Tacos El Ranchero

MEXICO

On the southeast corner of 110th Street and 3rd Avenue, most nights you will find a taco truck painted in bright white and lettered in red and green, the proud colors of Mexico. Take a detour here to try the delicious tacos, as these purveyors are doing them very well.

The tacos (below) are all $2, and you have many options. The carnitas, suadero, enchilada, bistek, pollo, and al pastor here are all winners, grab one of each!

Revisit the enchilada and grab a huarache ($4, below) which is not on the menu. It's probably not there because they do not have the "proper" bean filled tortillas, but they do what they can and add a nice layer of their delicious beans on top, as well as the meat of your choice, lettuce, cream, and cheese. The green sauce they make is also very nice, and the red packs an intense heat if you prefer.

The quesadillas ($3) are an afterthought, so skip those in favor of more tacos, which are large and double-tortilla splendid.

They say their arrival time is 3pm, but this is all dependent on traffic from Queens, where the truck drives in from each day. On a slow night, you might find them packing up and leaving around 9pm, although it's usually closer to 10pm. They are all really nice though, work as quick as they possibly can, and have a loyal customer base that keeps them going.
