VENEZUELA
It's no secret (except from people that do not leave Manhattan) that you can find better arepas from practically any street vendor in Queens or West New York (in NJ), but East Villagers will still swear by this place. Every time I walk by during a lunch or dinner rush, I have to ask myself, "Am I wrong, or are they?" I have gotten into my fair share of long lines in New York City just to see what all the hubbub was about (if it was hubbub concerning food, that is), but I figured the hype on this place would have went away by now.
The arepas here are larger than the normal street version and decently priced ($4.50-$7.25), but it takes $5 more to add a side of rice and beans. It's not a bad option when that 7 train ride just seems too daunting.
